Geneva prepares for 'Hawks with win
Madeline Tennant scored twice in the Geneva girls soccer team's 4-0 win over Schaumburg Wednesday at the St. Charles East Invite.
Krista Jezior and Elise Farrelly also scored for Geneva (2-0).
The Vikings will play again at 5 p.m. today against Naperville Central, followed by St. Charles East against Schaumburg.
Softball
Driscoll 5, Fenton 4:ŒDriscoll (5-1) rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the nonconference contest.
Maggie Writt went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, 2 RBI and 2 runs for the Highlanders.
Angelica Jenson had 2 hits for Fenton (1-5).
Wheaton North 9, Benet 8:ŒWheaton North (2-1) came up with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the nonconference battle.
Adrianne Sieben went 3 for 4 with a double, 4 RBI and 3 runs in the victory. Paige Wilson added 3 hits, including a double, and scored twice.
Kaitlin Coari was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, an RBI and 3 runs for Benet (1-3).
Hinsdale Central 9, Leyden 1:ŒJessie Parks allowed 1 run on 2 hits in five innings of work to earn the victory for the Red Devils (1-0) in the West Suburban Conference crossover.
Julie Devine went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, while Traci Freitag was 3 for 4 with a double and 3 runs in the win.
St. Charles East 12, Waubonsie Valley 2:ŒTori Spears provided the highlight for Waubonsie Valley (0-1, 0-1) by hitting a 2-run inside-the-park homer in the first inning of the Upstate Eight Conference game.

Glenbard South 15, Yorkville 5:ŒAn 11-run second inning powered the host Raiders (4-3, 2-0) to a five-inning Western Sun Conference victory. Doug Anderson went 3-for-3 with a double, home run and 3 RBI. Franz Merkendorfer added 3 hits and 2 RBI. David Suffern (1-1) won on the mound.
Waubonsie Valley 3, Wheaton North 2:ŒTrevor Romeo's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the host Warriors (1-3) their nonconference win. Pat Murphy (1-0) earned the win with 5 scoreless innings of relief.
Naperville North 4, Waubonsie Valley 2:ŒThe visiting Huskies (4-2) scored 3 runs in the first inning and held on for the nonconference win. Jake Naumann (2-1) was the complete-game winner, scattering 3 hits and allowing no earned runs. Jordan Tassio and Derek Locascio each had 2 hits.
WW South 4, Streamwood 2:ŒNick Egan's 2-run third-inning home run sparked the nonconference win for the Tigers (1-2). Winning pitcher Nick Brown (1-1) allowed no hits and struck out eight in 4 innings.
Wheaton North 9, Elk Grove 5:ŒA 4-run fourth inning and a 5-run fifth rallied the host Falcons (3-1) to their nonconference victory. Trey Martin launched his second home run of the season. Ryan Javech went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Ryan Thompson (1-0) pitched 3 innings of relief to notch the win.

Montini 11, Bolingbrook 8:ŒSean Cahill and Brian Glennon each went 3-for-4 for the visiting Broncos (2-2) in their nonconference win. Pat Kulczycki (1-0) was the winning pitcher for Montini, which struck for 8 runs in the fifth inning.
