Local regionals rescheduled for tonight
Who has the best winning percentage in the area this week?
Mother Nature and Old Man Winter, that's who.
Once again, a plethora of area events were postponed Wednesday due to the heavy snow that hit the area.
• The Class 2A Hampshire girls basketball regional will attempt to play semifinals tonight. No. 2 seed Oregon meets Rockford Christian Life at 6 p.m. while No. 3 seed Hampshire takes on Rockford Christian at 8 p.m. The winners will return Friday at 7:30 p.m. for the regional championship.
• The Class 2A Plano girls basketball regional, which has yet to begin, will now play its semifinals at 6 and 8 p.m. tonight. Driscoll meets Lisle in the first game and St. Edward takes on Aurora Christian in the nightcap. The winners will wait until 8 p.m. Saturday to play the title game as Plano is hosting a Class A sectional wrestling meet Friday night and Saturday during the day.
• The round of Fox Valley Conference girls basketball games scheduled for Wednesday night were all postponed. Cary-Grove can now wrap up the Valley Division title Friday night at Woodstock. The Trojans will then host Crystal Lake South, their scheduled opponent on Wednesday, in a 2 p.m. game on Saturday. Huntley's scheduled game at Crystal Lake Central Wednesday will now be played at 7 p.m. Saturday. Reschedule days and times had not been determined for Wednesday's postponed games between Dundee-Crown and Woodstock, Jacobs at McHenry and the Grayslake Central at Prairie Ridge contest.
• Judson University's men's and women's games at Cardinal Stritch in Milwaukee were postponed Wednesday night as well and will be played tonight. The women play at 5:15 p.m. while Judson's men, undefeated in CCAC play and riding a 7-game winning streak, will take on Cardinal Stritch at 7:15 p.m.
