• Addison Community Theatre will hold auditions for its next production, "A Night of One Acts," at 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the Addison village hall, 1 Friendship Plaza. The show, slated to run the third weekend in February, will include three short plays. Roles for five or six male and female actors are available in each play. • The Lombard-Area AAUW will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Maple St. To celebrate Illinois' first Jane Addams Day, the meeting will include a screening of the documentary "Dinner at Jane's." The 50-minute film was shot in 1993 at the Hull House Museum. It includes commentary by 14 well-known women's rights activists, such as Susan Faludi and Gloria Steinem. Guests are welcome. Lombard-Area AAUW membership is open to women who have completed associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees or graduate or professional degrees who live or work in Addison, Glendale Heights, Lombard or Villa Park and surrounding communities. • Glendale Heights Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for the second annual 5 v. 5 Holiday Freeze Indoor Soccer Tournament until Friday. The tournament will be Dec. 29 at the Sports Hub, 250 Civic Center Plaza, Glendale Heights. Players on U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 or 17 and over teams may participate. The fee is $125 per team. • Drop-in craft time will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Addison Public Library, 2 Friendship Plaza. Children will be able to make a special holiday craft. • "Ammolite: Birth of a Gem" will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, 220 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst. Participants will learn how the vibrant gem was discovered, as well as how it is mined, cut, polished, marketed and sold. The program is free with museum admission. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Mondays and on major holidays.
