Palatine/Inverness Arts Council: The Palatine/Inverness Arts Council will hold its "First Saturday" reception to meet local artists from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Artistic Cuisine, 16 S. The club offers families, couples and singles trips to Midwestern and Western ski slopes and an annual "Learn to Ski" weekend, in addition to a variety of non-skiing social activities. Woodstock Squares: Woodstock Squares will hold square dance lessons at 7:30 p.m. on every Tuesday for 10 weeks at Whispering Hills Community Center, 4708 Jeffrey St., Johnsburg. Students dance with members of Woodstock Squares, led by a professional caller/teacher. Singles, couples and children age 8 and older with an adult are welcome. A 10-week session is $50 per person.
