Algonquin

• A Streamwood man was arrested on three outstanding warrants at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Randall Road and Harnish Drive, police said. John M. Gillis, 44, of 513 Freeman Ave., was wanted in Carol Stream for failure to appear in court for driving while license suspended, police said. He also was wanted on two DuPage County warrants for possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear in court on a charge of driving while license suspended, police said. Gillis posted $300 on the Carol Stream warrant and $1,250 on the DuPage charges. He has court dates on Oct. 8, 12 and 17 in DuPage County.

• A Lake in the Hills man was arrested on drug charges at 10:45 p.m. Thursday at Countryside Drive and Timberwood Lane, police said. Oscar Mendoza, 20, of 904 Windstone Court was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said. Mendoza posted a $100 bond and was released with an Oct. 17 court date in Woodstock.

Crystal Lake

• A Crystal Lake man armed with a large knife barricaded himself in his home at 7 p.m. Thursday at 198 Lake Court, police said. Neighbors in the area were urged to lock their doors and traffic in the area was rerouted. After negotiating with police, the man surrendered shortly before 9 p.m. without incident. Eric S. Sorenson, 24, was charged Friday with felony criminal damage to property and domestic battery, police said. Sorenson was held in the McHenry County jail on $4,500 bond with a Sept. 19 court date in Woodstock.

Elgin

• An Elgin man was accused of drunken driving Thursday, police said. Alfonso Benitez, 24, of 153 Highbury Drive, was cited for two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to signal when required, having no driver's license, illegal transportation of alcohol, illegal use of registration and no insurance, police said. Benitez posted a $300 bond Friday and was given a Sept. 25 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• Officers investigating a domestic dispute at 6:15 p.m. Thursday found hypodermic needles and syringes in the apartment, police said. James D. Clarke, 26, of 280 Douglas Ave., Elgin, was charged with possession of hypodermic needles and syringes, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of domestic battery and interference with the reporting of domestic violence, police said. Clarke was held in the Elgin lockup on $1,000 bond.

• A laptop computer worth $2,000 was stolen between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday from a vehicle on the 400 block of Mooresfield.

• $1,000 worth of telephone calling cards and $250 in cash were stolen from a business on the 600 block of Villa Street around 1 p.m. Thursday.

• Burglars stole a television set, two art pieces and pots and pans together valued at $550 between 6:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Thursday from a home on the 1700 block of Sheffield Drive.
