Lake in the Hills Airport to be site of first Veterans Day Runway 5K

The Lake in the Hills Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its first Veterans Day Runway 5K at Lake in the Hills Airport. This venue will give the chance for runners to race on a fully functional airport runway.

The 5K/2-mile walk will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the airport, 8407 Pyott Road. Race-day registration will be 6 to 7:45 a.m. $35 for 5K, $25 for 2-mile walk. Register at www.lith.org.

Stick around after for a post race celebration in one of the hangars.

Individual walkers will receive finisher ribbon. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female age group runners determined by chip time (individual runners only). Awards will not be given for ages 15 and younger.

Awards will be given on-site after the race. Awards not distributed post-race will be available for pickup the following business day at the village hall.
