Volunteers join in 10th annual It's a River Day event

On Sept. 16, volunteers helped clean up at the 10th annual It's Our River Day celebration at Cornish Park along the shoreline of the Fox River in historic downtown Algonquin.

The event is co-sponsored each year by The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and the village of Algonquin.

Other groups involved include: The Sierra Club, Illinois Water Trail Keepers, Illinois Paddling Council, Prairie State Canoeists and Fox River Jeep Club.

Local Algonquin partners this year included River Bottom Ice Cream Co., artist June Blunk, and musician Thea Roggenbuck.
