Advocate Good Samaritan receives award for new construction work

The Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation thanked Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital for reinvesting in the community through the recent expansion of the West Tower and Bhorade Cancer Center.

The hospital was recognized with the Cornerstone Award, which is given each year to a Downers Grove business that completed a well-designed project providing a significant economic impact in the community.

Downers Grove Mayor Martin Tully presented the awards at the corporation's annual luncheon on June 1 with more than 200 business leaders, elected officials and community members in attendance.

"There are so many things that Good Samaritan Hospital has done in our community," Tully said. "Words cannot even begin to describe how important of a partner, a stakeholder, an essential community service that Advocate Good Samaritan is. We couldn't be more proud or fortunate."

Hospital President Dave Fox and Vice President of Support Operation Laura Nieberg accepted the award on behalf of the hospital alongside Tully, corporation board Chairman John Luka and corporation President and CEO Michael Cassa. Also honored were information technology firm Ensono and Duluth Trading Company.

Nieberg said the hospital is proud to serve the community and credited Fox for his leadership and commitment to quality patient care.

"We are thrilled to be starting our 41st year of caring for the health and wellness of the residents and businesses of Downers Grove," she said.
