West Dundee student receives food science scholarship
Morganne Schmidt, a resident of West Dundee and a student at Dominican University in River Forest, has received a prestigious scholarship from the Chicagoland Food Science Foundation.
Schmidt is a junior with a double major in chemistry and food applications. She will use the $5,000 scholarship toward tuition for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The Dundee-Crown High School graduate is a rising star in Dominican's nutrition program. She recently competed in the annual Research Chefs Association Student Culinology Competition in Puerto Rico with a traditional brazo Gitano pastry incorporating Puerto Rican ingredients.
The Dominican team brought home silver medals from this year's competition on March 16.
