Memory Cafe Fox Valley to meet Wednesday

The Memory Café Fox Valley meeting Feb. 22 will mark the beginning of the group's second year.

Since February 2016, the monthly gatherings have become an important part of the lives of those who participate.

A memory cafe is an informal social gathering where people in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease or other forms of memory loss can connect with others in similar situations.

Participants and their caregivers share experiences, thoughts and feelings, knowing that everything said is confidential.

People who participate in a Memory Cafe are able to function in society without special supervision or aid and can enjoy the company of others.

Caregivers and/or family members are expected to participate with them.

Anyone suffering from early memory loss is welcome. Current participants come from St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Elgin, Aurora and other communities throughout Kane County.

Memory Café Fox Valley meets at 10 a.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

For information, call (630) 643-2263.
