Palatine Historical Society Presents Sesquicentennial Cemetery Walk

On Sunday, May 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Palatine Historical Society will present their annual Cemetery Walk in Palatine Township's Hillside Cemetery, located on Smith Road in Palatine, just north of Colfax Street.

This year's cemetery walk will celebrate Palatine's 150 years of incorporation. The Sesquicentennial Cemetery Walk will feature stories from the lives of men and women who were alive in 1866. Costumed actors portraying these Palatine residents will explain what life was like at the time. Among those portrayed at the event will be Myron Lytle, Palatine's first mayor who was a Civil War veteran and an early settler.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for Palatine Historical Society Members, and $2 for children under 16. Tickets can be purchased at the cemetery on the day of the event. Tours will start periodically throughout the day, with the last tour beginning at 3:30 p.m. All profits from the event are used for the restoration of grave markers at Palatine Township Cemeteries.

For information about the Cemetery Walk, call the Palatine Historical Society at (847) 991-6460.
