Club Guadalupano of Elgin to award scholarships Saturday

Club Guadalupano of Elgin will hold its 38th annual Latino Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 18, at Villa Olivia Country Club in Bartlett. The reception will be 6 to 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the program at 9 p.m.

Tickets are $60 per person.

All award recipients are graduating seniors. The students submit scholarship applications. A committee reviews the applications and selects the awardees based on academic excellence, school community involvement and personal essays.

Two adults/community groups are also recognized for their service to the Hispanic community.

This year, Club Guadalupano is recognizing Sharon Sauceda and the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) from Elgin Community College.
