Lake County Marines Corps group donates $10,000 to Tots for Tots

Members of the Lake County Detachment 801 of the Marines Corps League recently presented a check for $10,000 to the Toys for Tots Foundation, which will be used to purchase toys for children in Lake County.

Members of the Lake County Detachment 801 have been conducting Toys for Tots fundraising events at various Lake County locations since mid-October. They have also placed more than 150 toy donations boxes throughout the county.

Detachment members will be at Gurnee Hawthorn Shopping Center Saturday, Dece. 13, to accept additional donations.

The primary goal of United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters.

The Lake County Detachment 801 of the Marine Corps League meets the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at the In-Laws Restaurant, 720 Milwaukee Ave., Gurnee.

Active duty and honorably discharged Marines and FMF Navy Corpsmen and FMF Navy Chaplains are welcome to join.
