Legacy Elite Winter Classic Adopts A Family

During the holiday season leading up to the Winter Classic, which is held annually in January, the Legacy Elite Winter Classic partnered with the local Salvation Army to adopt a large family for holidays. The family selected for sponsorship was a single mother and her six children, ranging from age 8 to 18, who recently moved to Illinois from a warmer climate.

It is difficult to find sponsorships for larger families due to the greater commitment required, explains Stephanie Wallace, co-director of the Winter Classic steering committee. “The needs of the family are too great for each of us individually, but collectively, we knew we could shower this family with everything they needed for the holiday season” – And they did just that!

The Legacy Elite gymnasts and their families purchased over $3,000 in donations that met all of the stated needs AND many of the wishes of this family. “What a wonderful opportunity to share our many blessings with a new family in our Legacy community” said Wallace. “Legacy families have always been very generous”.

This comes just before the 3rd Annual Legacy Elite Winter Classic gymnastics meet, which will be held on January 10th – 12th at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, IL.

The Winter Classic is hosted by the Legacy Elite Parents Booster Club along with Legacy Elite Gymnastics, which is located in Carol Stream, IL. The Gym is owned and operated by world-renowned Olympic gymnasts Jiani Wu and Yuejiu Li.
