An increasing number of suburban residents are interested in raising chickens as a fun and educational hobby that also provides fresh eggs. To learn more about raising chickens at home, register for the "Backyard Chicken" workshop at the Prairie Crossing Learning Farm in Grayslake. The workshop is from 9-12 on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The Prairie Crossing Learning Farm has raised chickens for many years, incorporating them in a variety of farm-based educational programs. Participants will learn about chicken breeds and behavior, best practices in feeding and housing, local ordinances, and more. The workshop also includes a visit with the Learning Farm's flocks of pasture-raised chickens.
