Vista Acquires Oncology Practice

Vista Health System today announced the acquisition of Oncology/Hematology Associates of Northern Illinois (OHANI), a three-physician oncology practice that was founded in the early 1980s.

Joining Vista are Narendra Kapadia, M.D., who founded the practice in 1982, along with Nilesh Mehta, M.D., and Anshul Bamrolia, M.D. All are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology, and together they bring more than 55 years of oncology experience in treating cancer patients.

The practice will maintain its Gurnee office at 202 S. Greenleaf, Suite E. By Oct. 1, it will expand into a second location in the new Vista Cancer Center, 1025 Red Oak Lane, Lindenhurst. The center is located on the first floor of the new Vista Medical Office Building on Vista's Lindenhurst campus on Grand Avenue.

“We're very excited to make OHANI a direct part of Vista Health System,” said Barbara Martin, President & CEO of Vista. “This is one of the leading oncology practices in Lake County, and we've been working to solidify our relationship with them for nearly two years. They've been on staff at Vista for many years, so we know the high quality of patient care they provide. Now with the opening of our brand new Vista Lindenhurst Cancer Center, this is the perfect time to tie it all together.”

The agreement was completed at the Vista Lindenhurst Cancer Center during a signing ceremony with some 25 staff members, administrators and fellow physicians in attendance.

“We made this decision because of Vista's commitment to its oncology program,” said Dr. Kapadia. “The new cancer center in Lindenhurst is certainly a big part of that and allows us to reach more patients in western Lake County. We also believe in the quality of inpatient care at Vista Medical Center East with its interdisciplinary team of surgeons and primary care physicians. In addition, Vista is at the forefront in providing oncology nurse navigators who support the patient and family through every step of the cancer journey.”

The new Vista Cancer Center will serve patients in western Lake County by offering a number of benefits:

• 10 private infusion rooms for chemotherapy, antibiotics and procedures

• 4 exam rooms

• On-site lab services

• Special services for women provided by the American Cancer Society that include the Appearance Center and wig boutique, as well as the Look Good/Feel Better program

• Survivorship program operated in conjunction with the nationally known Cancer Wellness Center

• Cancer information center with computers

In addition, Vista now offers outpatient cancer rehabilitation at the Vista Ambulatory Care Center, 1050 Red Oak Lane in Lindenhurst, and at the Vista Physical Medicine/Work Power Center at 222 S. Greenleaf in Gurnee. Inpatient cancer rehabilitation is provided at Vista Medical Center West, 2615 Washington, Waukegan. Vista received STAR Program® Certification from the Massachusetts-based Oncology Rehab Partners, leading experts in the field of survivorship care. Vista is the only healthcare provider in Lake County that is STAR (Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation) certified.
