Sente internship a valuable experience

  • Article
text size: AAA

I would like to thank state Rep. Carol Sente for a wonderful summer internship experience that allowed me to learn about the many duties of a state legislator and her staff.

I completed challenging research assignments, and helped Rep. Sente respond to inquiries from residents. I had the opportunity to walk through neighborhoods with Rep. Sente, engaging with families at their doorsteps, and also attended numerous events throughout our community.

Because advocating for young adults is one of Rep. Sente's priorities, I helped to plan and promote a Legislative Summit for Young Adults so that she could discuss legislative issues and gauge the opinions of teens and college-aged students.

This experience was important for me to see how my skills from school could finally translate into the real world. I am confident beginning my freshman year at the University of Illinois that I have a solid foundation for my future. I urge students to apply for Rep. Sente's internship program next summer.

Thanks again to Representative Sente.
