Wheeling High School will be headed by a new principal next year, according to a news release issued by Northwest Suburban High School District 214.
Angela Sisi, director of student services at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, was appointed principal of Wheeling High School during a special school board meeting Thursday.
A graduate of District 214, Sisi began her career as a math teacher at Elk Grove High School. She took a job teaching Spanish at Stevenson High School in 1997 and five years later was appointed dean of students.
Sisi served as interim assistant principal at the school for a short period during her eight years as dean and assumed her current position in August 2010.
"I am very excited and honored to be coming home to District 214," Sisi said in a statement. "I believe my 16 years of diverse educational experiences at an excellent school will integrate seamlessly into Wheeling High School, another excellent school."
Sisi holds a bachelor's degree in the teaching of Spanish and French from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Northern Illinois University. She succeeds Lazaro Lopez, who last month was appointed associate superintendent for teaching and learning in District 214.
The board of education made two other appointments at the school Thursday. Michael Szpisjak, director of technology at North Chicago Community Unit District 187, was named the new technology systems supervisor at Wheeling High School and Jeff Rubio, lead groundskeeper at Forest View Alternative School, was named the school's new facilities manager.
All appointments will be effective July 1.
