Taste Takes Flight--Sip, Savor, Sample

You can sample beef tenderloin sliders, duck wontons, cheese puffs, handmade chocolates and much more at the 3rd annual Takes Takes Flight event, April 18th at the Chicago Marriott Northwest, Hoffman Estates. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

More than 15 outstanding chefs from throughout Barrington and the greater Chicago area will provide a signature cuisine to savor from their establishments. The International House of Wine and Cheese will provide the wine for sampling and Anderson's Candy Shop will offer chocolate tastings.

Many of the chefs are returning for the third time. They are excited to be able to support WINGS through their outstanding culinary skills. This event also helps them highlight their establishments and their excellent cuisines to a broader audience.

Jaime Laurita, celebrity chef to the stars, and author and chef Amelia Levin (Chicago Chef's Table) will headline this culinary charity event.

Ms. Levin will be on hand to autograph her book and discuss the exciting cuisine offerings of Chicago. Chicago Chef's Table is the first cookbook to gather Chicago's best chefs and restaurant under one cover. Carnivale, one restaurant featured in the book, is a first time participant in the Taste Takes Flight.

Mr. Laurita recently launched a line of food and wine products available in Heinen's Fine Foods, Barrington as well as numerous retail outlets throughout Chicago and the surrounding area.

WOW (Women of Wings) and HOW (Husbands of WOW) are the hosts for this culinary extravaganza. For the first time, HOW/WOW will present its Leadership Award to Lisa Stamos, Publisher, Quintessential Media Group, Inc. “Lisa has provided outstanding support for this event since the beginning and to WINGS since 2005. We are proud to honor her with our first Leadership Award,” said Nina Stephenson, co-chair of the event along with Sue Rogers. In addition, Friends of the Safe House (FOSH) are assisting in this event with their time, talents and energy.

This WINGS spring event will raise funds to support their Safe House. “Our goal this year is to raise funds to support additional staff for the Safe House so that WINGS will never have to turn away women and children who are victims of domestic violence due to lack of staffing when space is available,” said Rogers.

General admission tickets are $75 per person which lets you sample delicious tastes from more than 15 renowned chefs, wine tasting, and gourmet offerings. For $100, in addition to the general admission, you get wine, cheese and chocolate pairings at your table. A special Chef Table is available for purchase at $1200 (table for 10). The Chef's Table includes all of the above plus a special premium wine pairing, presented by Tom Jiaras, International House of Wine and Cheese, to complement the Chef's signature dish and a conversation with the Chef.
