Handmade Goods for a Good Cause

For the past three years the Palatine Opportunity Center (POC) in Palatine, a non-for-profit community center, has been hosting the Annual Fall Artisan's Market: Handmade Goods for a Good Cause. The idea came when POC staff noticed that many of the clients they served had hidden talents. As way to help them during the economic crisis, the POC decided to showcase their talents for about an hour one Tuesday. The market became a hit with staff, donors, volunteers and clients. Even better, clients decided that they wanted to donate a portion of their proceeds to the center specifically to help fund empowerment programs.

Fast forward to three years later and ROLE, Reaching Out Lifting to Excellence (a women's group at POC) is spearheading the project. In addition to the market, a bake sale will run concurrently.

Join POC and ROLE this year on Thursday, November 15th from 9 am to 2 pm and meet great Etsy artisans, find beautiful and unique holiday gifts at great prices, enjoy apple cider and coffee at ROLE's bake sale while helping the POC continue to "empower ALL people".
