It's been a long election season with only a few weeks to go. While much focus is given to the presidential race, remember all politics is local except in the state of Illinois which is run by state Rep. Mike Madigan.

Thanks to him and his Democratic cohorts in the General Assembly and State Senate we are deeply in debt and have the lowest ranking of all the states.

One of the most important races in our area is in the 59th state representative district. Thanks to Madigan's gerrymandering in towns and counties he has pitted incumbent Sidney Mathias against incumbent state Rep. Carol Sente.

Sid is a fiscally conservative representative who has done much for this area during his time in the General Assembly. He crosses party lines to work for the constituents but much of his legislation gets tossed in the throwaway pile by Madigan's allies. His opponent was hand-picked and appointed to the seat. She won election on her own by a small margin with Madigan's help and he is now putting a lot of money into her present campaign. You can expect Madigan's street workers out here soon if they aren't already.

Madigan is making sure that he continues his reign of power while doing everything possible to do away with the two party system. I urge everyone to vote for Sid Mathias and save Illinois by firing Madigan and his cohorts, including Carol Sente.
