Gala dinner, auction celebrates St. John's 50th anniversary

Streamwood – On Saturday, Oct, 27, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish will cap off its 50th Anniversary celebration with an elegant Gala Dinner and Auction at the Seville in Streamwood.

The festivities will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 6:00PM followed by dinner at 7 p.m. After dinner, Fr. Ted Schmitt, Pastor, will present the Faith in Service Award to a business that has shown outstanding Catholic values and ideals demonstrated through their work at St. John's. The St. John the Evangelist Award will also be presented to recognize a parishioner who has shown faith in action and outstanding dedication to the parish.

After dinner and the award ceremony, attendees can bid on a wide array of items in the Silent Auction and enjoy music and dancing. Another highlight of the evening will be the drawing of the winning ticket in the Car Raffle. The lucky winner will receive a Kia Optima LX. Other special raffles will take place during the evening including a Bling Raffle and 50/50 raffles.

Many local dignitaries will be attending the Gala in recognition of the key role that St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church has played in the community of Streamwood during the past 50 years. The parish has been celebrating this milestone with a series of events. In June, Francis Cardinal George celebrated Mass at St. John's to commemorate the founding date of the parish.

About St. John the Evangelist

St. John the Evangelist is a Catholic parish of 2,825 families located in Streamwood Illinois approximately 29 miles northwest of Chicago. The Parish was established in June of 1962, and has been supporting the Catholic community in the Streamwood area for 50 years. The Parish provides Religious Education classes for Kindergarten through 8th grade as well as the C.R.U.S.H. (Catholic Religion Understood Spiritually Here) Youth Ministry program. St. John the Evangelist Catholic School has an enrollment of approximately 240 students in Pre-K through eighth grade. We provide students with excellent academic opportunities while emphasizing Catholic traditions and values.
