Moylan needed to step aside at game

The Maine West football theme on Friday, Aug. 24 was to honor the veterans.

Approximately 50 veterans were asked to line up on the field before the game and were applauded. This was an excellent event. The enthusiasm, teamwork from the team, band, cheerleaders, umpires, staff, organization and workers gave us all a feeling of appreciation and confidence in our leaders of tomorrow.

The one incident to dim some of the enthusiasm was when Des Plaines Mayor Moylan decided to be seen and recognized as a veteran. I am a veteran and know that election time is approaching but there should be a moral limit on political campaigning. Moylan was never a veteran and should be able to step aside on some of his picture-taking events.
