Conant’s Cougars in Need gets McDonald’s help

A Conant High School program that provides assistance for students and families with financial difficulties received some help of their own this week in the form of a $2,500 check from a group McDonald’s restaurants.

Established four years ago, Cougars in Need is a program started by Conant High School faculty and staff to help families in need afford groceries, utility and medical bills, school supplies and more.

The idea for Cougars in Need started when members of the school’s student services department decided they would rather donate money to needy students and their families for a good December holiday than buy gifts for each other.

Steve Reckley, a local McDonald’s owner and operator, joined Ronald McDonald to present the check to Conant officials at the McDonald’s at 522 W. Golf Road in Schaumburg. The donation came through the McDonald’s Owners of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.
