Injured boy a Conant H.S. student

The 14-year-old Schaumburg boy critically injured after being struck by a car Friday night is a student at nearby Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 officials confirmed today.

The boy remains listed in critical condition this morning at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Meanwhile, counselors were made available to his classmates at Conant, District 211 spokesman Tom Petersen said.

“This is such an unfortunate event,” Petersen said. “Our thoughts are with the family at this time.”

The boy's identity is not being released by the school district, police or hospital.

Schaumburg police are still investigating the circumstances of the collision, Sgt. John Nebl said.

What's known so far is that the boy was crossing the roadway at the intersection of Higgins and Plum Grove roads about 9:13 p.m. Friday when he was struck by a Toyota Camry driven by a 61-year-old Hoffman Estates man. No charges have been filed, Nebl said.
