• Tennis pro Bob Finder, 77, has announced his retirement after 50 years of instruction service, 20 of them with the Hanover Park Park District's Centre Court Athletic Club.

Finder, who fell in love with tennis as a young child, was the first in his family to practice the sport. His love for the sport was such that he played in college and had the opportunity to play all over the country, winning his share of tournaments. He became an instructor in order to help people develop their tennis games to the best of their abilities.

Over the years, Finder witnessed the tennis careers of many students, including that of Will Tennant. He remembers coaching Tennant as a child, then watching him play in college and the thrill it was to eventually work with him as a tennis pro at CCAC. Another of Finder's students was his son, Bob Finder Jr., who went on to play at the University of Memphis and win a number of notable tournaments.

Finder says he'll miss the people, the enjoyment of the game and all of those he has worked with over the years.
