New Catholic school taking registrations:

Frassati Catholic Academy in Wauconda will begin open registration Feb. 6. The Chicago Archdiocese's first middle school, located at Transfiguration Parish, 316 W. Mill St., Wauconda, will open in August for the 2010-11 academic year. Since 113 students have preregistered, interested families are encouraged to act quickly. The school's opening day goal is 140 students. Registration is open to all children in the area. Santa Maria del Popolo in Mundelein, St. Mary of the Annunciation in Fremont Center and Transfiguration joined forces to form the academy, which will house sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders. H1N1 flu vaccines in Lake Zurich:

Lake Zurich Unit District 95 hosts H1N1 vaccines for the public today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at May Whitney Elementary School, 100 Church St., Lake Zurich. Appointments can be made on the district's Web site, but walk-in vaccinations are also available. The vaccines will cost $15.

Scholl Family Fine Art Show:

The Feet First Museum of the Dr. William M. Scholl of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University, is presenting the Scholl Family Fine Art Show now through Feb. 15. The free exhibit runs Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, 3333 Green Bay Road, North Chicago. The show features 57 artworks, including painting, drawings, photography, sculptures, mixed media and jewelry. Several of the artworks are for sale. For details, call David McKay at (847) 578-8417.

Stevenson wins award:

Stevenson High School will receive its second Energy Star Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. The prize honors energy efficiency and conservation. The Lincolnshire school was the first school in the Chicago area to earn an Energy Star Award, and only the second in the state, when it was first honored in 2001, a school spokesman said.

Lincoln Day Dinner:

The 59th annual Grant Township Lincoln Day Dinner, sponsored by the Grant Township Republican Club, is set for Saturday, Feb. 6, at Maravela's Banquet Hall, 4 Washington St., Fox Lake. The event begins at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 each or $300 for a table of eight, and must be purchased in advanced. The guest speaker is Illinois Republican Party Chairman Patrick Brady. The dinner is a fundraiser for the Grant Township Republican Club. Proceeds fund the club throughout the year and allow members to support precinct committeemen and candidates in their area.
