Lavelle Law Podcasts Take Deep Dive into Legal Topics
It would be difficult to claim that Lavelle Law is new to the podcast realm. An innovator in the space, the Schaumburg-based law firm has been producing their Chicago's Legal Latte podcasts for more than a decade. The robust collection, housed at blogtalkradio.com or the firm's website www.lavellelaw.com has had more than 200,000 episode downloads. In recent months, the firm has added video versions and expanded individual topics into multi-part series to provide their 35 attorneys the chance to go into deeper detail on some complex topics.
"With the extraordinary knowledge and experience that our attorneys, partners, and shareholders possess, we have a unique opportunity to share that information with current and prospective clients to improve their understanding of some complex areas of the law," said Managing Partner Ted McGinn. "We feel clients come to us better prepared and with a more focused set of questions after listening to our podcasts."
All the attorneys at the firm are expected to participate throughout the year, often doubling up on a topic by writing an article for the firm's website and then sitting down for a detailed discussion in an audio or video podcast.
In late 2022, McGinn teamed up with several contacts from the accounting profession for a three-part series on buying and selling a business, while Partner Patti Levinson and attorney Annette Corrigan, were joined by a counseling professional for a three-part video series on alternative approaches to divorce. In addition, McGinn completed a three-part series with Shareholder Timothy Hughes on using bankruptcy as a tool for eliminating some forms of debt. This year, Partner Elizabeth Maine Ellis enjoyed her first podcast on using estate planning tools for business succession planning so much so that she returned for a second version almost immediately.
"Each time we release a new episode we get an immediate response," said McGinn. "Podcasts have been a key tool to building our brand."
Upcoming episodes will focus on Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) and Tax Planning for Estates.
"These are topics that directly impact many businesses," McGinn said, "but are not very well understood through a lack of information. We consider it our obligation to share what we can."
