New York Times best-selling author Adam Rubin is visiting the Waldorf School of DuPage in Warrenville on Friday, Feb. 10.
Rubin will talk about the creative writing process and honor seventh-grader Nicolas Martin of Wheaton, who was chosen as one of six among hundreds of students from across the country to have his story published in Rubin's book, "The Ice Cream Machine."
Rubin, featured on NPR's "Morning Edition" last February, wrote "The Ice Cream Machine" as a series of short stories all with the same name, demonstrating how one title can evoke many different stories.
Rubin invited students to submit their own story with the title "The Ice Cream Machine" to him for consideration for publication in the paperback version of the book, which is available Feb. 21, 2023.
Nicolas Martin submitted his story as part of a school assignment and was thrilled to be chosen for the final publication.
The Waldorf School of DuPage is a prekindergarten through eighth-grade private school in Warrenville with a mission to nurture a healthy, sustainable future of whole, aware, authentic people.
