Northbrook Cultural Fair Celebrates Diversity of Local Residents

The village of Northbrook's Community Commission will present a Cultural Fair on Sunday, Feb. 26, in partnership with the North Suburban YMCA. The fair features live entertainment, food samples and displays representing the diverse heritage of local residents. The event runs from 3-5 p.m., at the North Suburban YMCA, 2705 Techny Road, in Northbrook, and is free and open to the public.

This fair brings together a variety of local organizations to celebrate the many cultural backgrounds of Northbrook residents. Attendees can expect artistic displays, musical acts, dance demonstrations, education/information tables, henna artists, arts and crafts, a karate demonstration and samples of food from different cultures.

"We are honored to once again host the Northbrook Community Commission's Cultural Fair and value our partnership with them," said Kim Nyren, director of Community Investments and Events at the NSYMCA. "We have hosted for three years previously and this year promises to provide our community with a meaningful, educational, and fun experience for all ages. We are proud to be a home for the community to learn, experience, and appreciate the strength of our diversity."

Jennifer Saperstein, chairperson of the Northbrook Community Commission and Sam Reiss, staff liaison to the commission, are first time hosts and planners of the event.

"We are thrilled to bring the Cultural Fair back to Northbrook - the first since the pandemic," states Saperstein. "Bringing the community together to celebrate diversity and inclusion is our commission's core objective and we are excited to be partnering with the YMCA to celebrate the different backgrounds of our residents."

The Cultural Fair is open to the public and free of charge.
