Learn about substance use and current trends with Glenbard Parent Series Dec. 13
The Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will host "Wake-Up Call: Common Drug Trends and What to Be Aware of Now," presented by Your Choice Prevention Education along with One Pill Can Kill.
The rise in the use of vaping devices and other substances among youth is a growing concern. Your Choice Prevention Education returns to Glenbard to provide adults practical information on current drug trends and a walk-through of a teen's bedroom with more than 50 red flags that could indicate substance use. This presentation is suggested for those older than 21 only.
Dean Jeske is the parent of three boys who graduated from Glenbard South High School. In April 2021, his youngest son Peter died after taking a single pill that he believed to be a safe prescription drug. It's not uncommon for fake pills to be laced with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid 50 times more potent than heroin that can be found on the internet.
Jeske works in partnership with Song For Charlie: Real Talk About Fake Pills, a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the word about this deadly crisis.
This is a must-see for parents, grandparents, teachers, community members and other adults who are influential in the lives of youth.
