Photographer Brian Kabat Exhibits Work at NSYMCA Community Gallery

The North Suburban YMCA Community Gallery will be showcasing local photographer Brian Kabat's work through August. All photographs are for sale with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Y's Visual Arts Program.

A lifelong performing musician and school music teacher since 1988, Kabat's love for photography stems from his love for the arts.

"I first started to take photographs in the early 2000s when I began taking frequent walks outdoors. I found nature to be peaceful and inspiring. Before long, I started bringing a camera with me to try to capture my experiences in order to remember them, as well as to share them with others," noted Kabat. "I believe that a good photograph, whatever the subject may be, helps to capture the mood of a place or event so that others can experience that emotional connection, just like a good piece of music."

The NSYMCA's Community Gallery celebrates the diversely talented artists living and working in Chicago's northern suburbs with monthly exhibits that are free and open to the public.
