Arlington Heights Art Guild hosts 51st annual art fair

The Arlington Heights Art Guild will host their 51st annual A Walk in the Park Art Fair on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022.

In honor of 51 years of hosting this juried art fair, and not being able to celebrate last year due to COVID concerns, we have made some exciting changes to this year's fair.

As news spreads about our show, more and more vendors are reaching out to us looking to be a part of our fair. We have 75 vendors, some are favorite vendors from past years, but many are new to our show, exhibiting unique and creative designs and ideas.

For the first time, we will have a special exhibit from Dist 214 high school art students. Art teacher Li Christoffersen will be on hand along with her talented group to display and sell their works of mixed media and answer any questions. The Arlington Heights Art Guild uses money collected from the booth fees at A Walk in the Park to give scholarships to three deserving high school seniors in art classes. Judging takes place every March.

A very talented member of the Art Guild, Lynell Ingram, will be giving free art demonstrations. She will be in the park all day so please stop by to observe and be inspired as she creates her art in mixed media. Lynell will be happy to answer any questions and many pieces of her art will be for sale.

The Art Guild decided it would be fun to have the show attendees involved by helping select an outstanding booth for the "People's Choice Award." Who do you think is the most talented artist? Which booth was your favorite? Or, which artist was the most unique or creative? You can vote at the Art Guild Information Table at the north end of the park. Voting is open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the "People's Choice Award" being announced at 4 p.m.

As usual there will be food available for purchase in the park as well as music provided by Bach to Rock Music School. Talented music teachers will be on hand to play your favorite tunes. Please stop by and ask them about their school and classes offered.

Each year we strive to make our fair a unique event for the whole family. We hope you can come and stay a while. Linger under the many shade trees in the beautifully landscaped park. Enjoy a treat or stay for lunch and listen to the music while you appreciate the variety of creative artists who came to share their talent with us.

Art Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show is located in North School Park, 410 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. The park is just north of Northwest Highway and there is free admission and free parking on the street as well as in the parking garage just south of the park.
