Play for All Playground and Sensory Garden introduces two new attractions
It's that time of year when Free Summer Play Days are back at the Play for All Sensory Garden and Playground.
Along with those special days featuring interactive fun and learning will be the debut of two new special features this summer.
A GT Wave net climbing structure is under construction now and will be completed by the end of May.
It features a transfer platform, an accessible climbing route and a slide.
Plans also call for the installation this summer of a new attraction called the Gravity Rail.
Riders sit in a swing-style seat attached to a curved rail that lets them glide through the air, just a few feet off the ground, and around the track.
The Gravity Rail will be added to the Tree House area, where a large, gazebo-like treehouse is accessible via a gently sloping wooden ramp.
Tree House visitors can exit the tree house either by way of the ramp or by sailing down one of two twisty, covered slides.
The sensory garden also has fanciful art displays, known as the "Art Along the Way" exhibit, sprinkled throughout the park.
The playground features playful, racehorse-themed art, sensory experiences and recreational opportunities that will continue to be enhanced as funding becomes available.
The playground, located at 2751 Navistar Drive, Lisle, in Danada South Park, just northeast of Naperville and Warrenville roads, is designed to be accessible to all children, without barriers.
This year's Play Days dates are May 21, June 18, July 16 and Aug. 20.
Each date will feature activity stations and a different theme, from space to animals to transportation - even dinosaurs!
Long-term plans call for adding playground equipment for children, ages 5 to 12, to the existing playground equipment.
A generous donor has agreed to match up to $50,000 in donations made in 2022.
Consider helping turn $50,000 in donations into $100,000 so the Play for All Playground will expand and grow faster, enabling more children to benefit from the park's many amenities.
