Learn about rank choice voting at virtual Civic Awareness Series March 10

On Thursday, March 10, the Robert R. McCormick House at Cantigny Park, the League of Women Voters of Wheaton, and the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County will host an online presentation in the acclaimed Civic Awareness Series. The co-sponsors will welcome Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss at 7 p.m. CST.

The webinar is free, but advance registration is required at Cantigny.org or my.lwv.org/Illinois/wheaton.

Registrants will receive a Zoom link before the event.

Questions for the speaker may be submitted in advance to blaimins@gmail.com.

Mayor Biss's presentation will explain the theory and realities around Rank Choice Voting, an alternate electoral system being considered by Illinois communities and the Illinois General Assembly.

His remarks will include information on why certain cities and states are adopting Rank Choice Voting.

Biss was elected mayor of Evanston in 2021. Previously, he served as a member of the Illinois House and Illinois Senate and ran a grass-roots campaign in 2018 for the Democratic nomination for governor, placing second in a crowded field. His campaigns and public service feature a strong commitment to public engagement, political reform, and economic justice. Prior to his public service career, Biss was a mathematics professor at the University of Chicago.
