Kane County Cougars collect winter gear for veterans

The Geneva-based Kane County Cougars baseball team is holding a coat and boot drive for needy veterans.

From Monday, Dec. 6, to Friday, Dec. 17, fans are invited to drop off donations at the Cougars' front office at Northwestern Medicine Field, 34W002 Cherry Lane in Geneva, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Only new coats and boots can be accepted. They must be in original packaging or have a sales tag attached to verify that the item is new. No used coats or boots can be accepted.

Adult larger coat sizes XL or greater and boot sizes 9 -13 are especially needed.

Donors will receive one undated reserved seat ticket voucher valid for a 2022 regular season Cougars' game for each donated item. There is a maximum of 10 complimentary vouchers per fan.

The drive is in partnership with the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans (www.helpaveteran.org).

All coats and boots will be donated to meet the cold-weather outerwear needs of veterans and their families this winter.

Donations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m.

For more information, call the Cougars' front office at (630) 232-8811.
