Kinetic Dance Company wins many awards at Dupree Dance Convention

The Kinetic Dance Company, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, spent the weekend of Oct. 22-24 at the Dupree Dance Convention and Competition in Lombard.

KDC dancers participated in many classes throughout the weekend, featuring a variety of styles of dance. Dancers also competed Friday and Saturday, winning numerous awards. They are proud of these talented and hardworking dancers. Here is a list of their awards:

Under the Table received one of only four awards chosen from more than 200 dances performed at the event.

Scholarship Awards:

• Collective Program: Mia Peterson received the highest award offered at the event. It includes a full scholarship to national convention/competition, an invitation to perform in closing number, and a chance to be an assistant on tour with the Dupree Dance Convention.

• Full Scholarship: Brenna Palmer and Cira Cattenhead received the second most coveted award at the event. It includes a Future Dupree Convention & Invitation to Join Opening Number at Nationals.

• Half Scholarship to Future Dupree Convention: Anabella Baez, Jalen Habon, Mya Sanchez

• Rhythmic Soul Tap Scholarship: Brenna Palmer

• $150 national competition voucher: Where They From

• $150 national competition voucher: Under the Table

• $50 national competition voucher: Mirror

The Kinetic Dance Company is a select group of aspiring young dancers that are eager to learn, perform, and compete, showing off their high-level technique, skills, and ability. It is dedicated to educating, training, and developing the artistic abilities of members by providing a positive environment that includes technique classes, master classes, convention participation, and performances.
