Roselle Public Library welcomes author Kwame Alexander for virtual Q&A June 2

The Roselle Public Library will host Newbery-winning author Kwame Alexander for an event focusing on his award-winning picture book, "The Undefeated."

Alexander is a poet, educator, and New York Times Bestselling author of 28 books. His is a story of starting at ground zero as a resourceful writer and business man who sold books out of his car and at farmers markets, to becoming an expert in engaging young audiences.

Alexander is the co-founder of L.E.A.P., an international literacy empowerment organization, and the founder of VERSIFY, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt which publishes books that will engage, entertain, and empower young people to imagine a better world.

This special virtual event for children, third grade and up, and adults will be from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 2.

Registrants for this event will receive a complimentary copy of the award-winning book, illustrated by Kadir Nelson, while supplies last. Quantities are limited.

This author Q&A with Kwame Alexander has been made possible with funding provided by a Healing Illinois grant.

The library expresses gratitude to the Illinois Department of Human Services in partnership with the Chicago Community Trust for awarding the Roselle Public Library District a Healing Illinois grant. The library joins 86 other nonprofit organizations across the state of Illinois to support racial healing initiatives through the creation of community-centered, inclusive and safe spaces to talk about racial disparities and design local solutions.
