Good Shepherd Hospital now offers virtual workouts

Are you missing your regular workout routine?

Fitness is about more than movement, it's about connection.

"We create relationships with the clients we work with and the folks in our group exercise classes, and they are meaningful to all of us," said Jen Anderson, Group Exercise coordinator at Good Shepherd Hospital's Health and Fitness Center.

"Many of our members and staff have been with us for years, seeing each other through many life changes like marriages, children and grandchildren, and this is another one of those life changes to navigate.

"We have worked as a team to figure out how to reach members, stay connected and engaged and create a new routine that will help to calm the waters of change."

Enter virtual workouts. The team at Good Shepherd Hospital's Health and Fitness Center worked quickly to get online workouts daily to keep the routine going. They are offering online, real time workouts daily at 9 a.m. on their Facebook page.

The team has also created a YouTube Channel where they can post those online workouts after they are completed so that people can have a library to refer to any time they would like.

"We can use the power of social media now for these great opportunities to connect with our community. There are so many reasons to keep your exercise routine going, and we had to find a way to reach people" Anderson said.

"We need this now more than ever, for stress relief, improved sleep, overall wellness - it's more than just sweating and lifting up heavy things. We have to keep our minds and bodies strong and healthy for ourselves and our community.

"We will continue to be part of the routine that people have come to rely on. They know they can rely on us, and that matters to us," Anderson said.

"There are fun and effective workouts available for all ages and abilities. Cardio, strength, Pilates, core, stretching - we have a class for everyone, equipment or no equipment," said Anderson. "Join us to stay strong and healthy, all while protecting the communities that we live, work and play in. Stay home and work out with us."
