Learn all things maple syrup at Sugar Bush Fair
Celebrate the historic tradition of gathering sap from maple trees during Spring Valley's 36th annual Sugar Bush Fair!
The Fair is set for 9 a.m.-noon, March 14 and 15. Parking is available at the Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, with transportation taking attendees to Merkle Cabin for the event.
Sugar Bush Fair is one of Spring Valley's most popular and longest running events. The biggest draw is a warm breakfast of pancakes, sausage, maple syrup, juice and coffee served under a tent on the grounds of Merkle Cabin.
"It's a family tradition for many people and we hope you'll make it part of your family tradition."," said Dave Brooks, manager of conservation services for Spring Valley.
The event features educational and historical reenactments by Native Americans and interpretive pioneers who will demonstrate maple syrup and sugar production. Activities will include tree tapping, a puppet show and a hayride. All activities take place outdoors and attendees are encouraged to dress warmly. Spring Valley maple syrup and other items will be available for purchase.
General admission to the fair is free. Tickets are required for breakfast and will be available at the Nature Center beginning February 1. Pre-sale tickets are $4.50 for a half stack and $6.50 for a full stack. Day-of prices are $6 for a half stack and $8 for a full stack.
