Center for Enriched Living holds training for local first responders

The Center for Enriched Living (CEL) held First Responder Training at its Riverwoods facility last week, with the fire departments from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Deerfield-Bannockburn in attendance. First responders received expert training for addressing emergencies with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition, the first responders participated in activities and games with those attending CEL programs, to help them become more comfortable if they encounter the police or fire department in an emergency. It was a meaningful experience and a special day for all.

CEL provides social, recreational, employment and educational opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, giving them the chance to be fully included in the community, achieve personal fulfillment and enjoy a good quality of life. The organization serves hundreds of people from at least 50 Chicago-area communities each year. To learn more, visit www.CenterforEnrichedLiving.org.
