New member joins Wilmette PEO

Donna Roginski, Morton Grove, was initiated as a new member of Wilmette Chapter GC, Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) at their summer meeting.

A 15-year resident of Morton Grove, Roginski said she was honored to be a new member. After attending several meetings as a guest, she said she felt welcomed and was impressed with the other members, who were "caring, giving and talented.

"They talked about visiting an ailing sister as a group and sending cards to another who lives out of town. I thought, 'That says a lot about how caring they are for each other.' I met the recipient of one of their philanthropic programs, who had advanced her education thanks to their generosity. I liked the focus on helping women do better."

"At future meetings, I learned how talented the sisters are, and how willing they are to share those talents with everyone," Roginski added.

P.E.O. is an independent organization that provides education grants, scholarships and loans as well as operates Cottey College, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women in Nevada, Missouri.

Chapter GC is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a rummage sale, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Sept. 13, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Sept. 14 at the home of Julie Busse, 1133 Hunter Road, Wilmette.

Celebrating 150 years of supporting women's education, the nonprofit organization has helped more than 109,000 women reach their educational goals by providing nearly $345 million in grants, scholarships, awards and loans.
