Fox Valley Area Anglers team up with Fox Valley Special Recreation Association
On Saturday, July 27, the Fox Valley Area Anglers, a local fishing club, is joining with the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association for a day of fun and fishing.
The Fox Valley Special Recreation Association is an organization committed to organizing and running fun activities and events for special needs children and adults in the Fox Valley area.
During the season, the fishing club hosts 10 tournaments and nine weekday fishing outings.
On July 27, the two organizations will join forces to take a group of 12 special needs adults out fishing on Lake Grunwald at the Grunwald Forest Preserve of Kane County. Each of the 12 participants will be paired with a member of the Fox Valley Area Anglers, and have the opportunity to fish the lake from the club member's boat.
The fishing will start at 9 a.m. and last until 1 p.m. There will also be events and activities set up in the park, and on the banks of the lake for additional fun and entertainment while participants await their turn to go out.
The Fox Valley Special Recreation Association was formed in 1976 and is an extension of the Batavia, Fox Valley, Geneva, Oswegoland, St. Charles, Sugar Grove park districts, and South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department to provide a diverse range of year round recreational activities to enable residents with disabilities to experience active, healthy and playful lifestyles. It provides year-round therapeutic recreation services, including general programs, Special Olympics sports, leisure education, day camp, special events, travel opportunities, individualized programming, and social programs.
