Christ Church to host 'The Passion: Jesus' Life Through Song' April 14
Greg Nelson's "The Passion" is a professional, multimedia musical production which delivers a moving message of love and sacrifice with intent and purpose.
"The Passion" is a modern musical drama which tells the powerful story of Jesus' life, death and resurrection.
Lyric Opera of Chicago member William Combs portrays the role of Jesus in this unique musical presentation. Combs, a tenor, is accompanied by other professional soloists and musicians who have several years of experience performing in numerous venues across the country.
This high-caliber production features a 105-voice Chancel Choir, 40-piece professional orchestra, and 11 professional soloists.
On Palm Sunday, April 14, the sanctuary of Christ Church will be transformed into a world-class theater for performances at 9 and 10:45 a.m. at the Oak Brook location, 501 Oak Brook Road.
"This is now an annual Palm Sunday event for us and such an amazing experience to see in person, and I think people will benefit from hearing the performance for themselves and feeling the powerful message of this spectacular masterwork," said Rev. Daniel Meyer, senior pastor at Christ Church.
"Several outstanding professional soloists take the stage to bring biblical characters to life through scripture and song," said Noelle Combs, Classic Worship director at Christ Church. "Tenor William Combs, a 22-year musician with Lyric Opera of Chicago, sings the role of Jesus each year. There are very few church choirs in the country that have been blessed with such amazing talent in the ranks of our 105 voices."
This event is open to the public. Admission is free and child care is provided for children age 4 or under. Christ Church provides several free concert events throughout the year. For a sample of last year's presentation of "The Passion," visit ChristChurch.us/passion.
