It's Showtime names staff for summer musical revue 'Magical Musicals & Pixie Dust'

It's Showtime Theatre of Huntley recently announced the artistic staff for its summer musical revue concert in June. Proceeds from this musical revue will go to further help grow It's Showtime of Huntley community theater program.

Aaron Gomez will serve as artistic director and Charlie Sommers will serve as music director.

This year's musical revue concert is entitled "Magical Musicals & Pixie Dust." It will be performed three times: Aug. 23-25.

In addition to performances by some of the area's top talent, patrons will have the opportunity to participate in silent auctions and raffles for prizes. Last year's event offered dining packages, autographed sports memorabilia, tickets to sporting events, and autographed photos of stars including John Travolta, Robert Redford, and Stephen Sondheim.

Gomez was an easy choice as director of the 2019 "Magical Musicals & Pixie Dust" event. He directed It's Showtime's inaugural musical revue concert "Ticket to Broadway," playing to nearly sold-out houses and audience raves. Further, Gomez is an accomplished theatrical producer and performer. His stage credits include roles in "Mary Poppins," "Legally Blonde," "Shrek," "The Little Mermaid," "Little Shop of Horrors," and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Sommers brings a wealth of talent to the production team. He has served as music director for productions including "42nd Street" and "Once Upon a Mattress." As a performer, Sommers has appeared in "Spamalot," "Mr. Burns - a Post Electric Play," and "The Music Man." A multi-instrumentalist, Sommers has played in multiple pit bands as well and is well respected in the industry.

Auditions will be held June 3-4 at the Cosman Theater, 12015 Mill St. in Huntley.
