On Feb. 9, the stars will shine brightly in Barrington, as this year's group of dancers take to the floor competing for local fame while raising funds for the Barrington Area Council on Aging.

The second annual Dancing with Barrington Stars event takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Stonegate Conference and Banquet Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates.

Professional dancers from the Bataille Academie of the Danse have choreographed a lively dance competition featuring six unique dance performances by local Barrington "celebrities." The good-natured competition is judged and the winner selected by attendees and online votes collected prior to the event.

This years dancers are:

• Dr. Jim Baird, Family Foot and Ankle and vice president of the BACOA board

• Jodie Barbera, Barrington Children's Charities, Healing the Children Foundation

• Mark Hoffman, owner Ala Carte Entertainment, Barrington Children's Charities

• The Rev. Al Johnson, St. Michael's Episcopal Church

• Sue Randall, Realtor at Baird & Warner, Jeffrey Pride Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research, Les Turner ALS Foundation

• Tom Root, art teacher at Grove Avenue Elementary, Barrington High School cross country coach

The evening includes food, active audience participation and fundraising to support BACOA's work with older adults in the Northwest suburbs.

Tickets are $100 each. For information, contact Terri Channer (847) 381-5030 or
