Glen Ellyn Park District to host Winter Gym Jam
As the Glen Ellyn Park District enters 2019, the kickoff of its 100th anniversary celebration begins.
The first special event to recognize this milestone is the park district's Winter Gym Jam. Attendance is free for all ages.
The festivities take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn.
"We'll have a DJ playing music and orchestrating interactive games, and we'll have giant versions of Connect 4, Jenga, checkers, pickup sticks, Uno, playing cards, tick-tack-toe, and sports pong in the gym," said Jeannie Robinson, assistant superintendent of recreation services.
"We're also planning special inflatable attractions on the turf, which will include bowling, a giant snow globe and bounce houses," added Robinson.
Refreshments will be on hand for purchase, and free anniversary cake will be available, while supplies last.
