DancEd Dancers Performed in Disney World In Dance The Magic Holiday Spectacular

North Shore dancers from DancEd Dance Centre in Northbrook traveled to Disney World in Orlando, Flordia, to perform in the Dance the Magic Elite Holiday Spectacular on Dec. 1 and 2. These dancers, ranging in age from 7 to 17 from Northbrook, Deerfield and Glenview, performed in two different shows.

In order to be invited to take part in the Dance the Magic Elite Holiday Spectacular, dance studios were required to audition by submitting a series of videos to ensure all the dancers were qualified and prepared to participate.

On Saturday night, DancEd dancers, ages 7 to 11, performed a special routine to the song "Heroes" by Alesso to a capacity crowd in a cavernous theater that houses the daily "Beauty and the Beast" live performances. They were joined by 35 other dance studios from across the U.S.A. and Canada.

On Sunday, dancers, ages 10 to 17, danced down the mile long Main Street parade route to "Man with the Bag" by Jessie J. They were joined by hundreds of other dancers from all across North America.

All dancers and their parents were invited to a special after hours VIP party in Hollywood Studios on Saturday night. The park was closed for this private event, which included a live DJ, dessert tables and appearances by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, along with other Disney characters. The Sunday morning parade dancers had a Disney World photo shoot and were treated to brunch.

Kerri Day, a parent of one of the dancers, said, "Dancing at Disney was an incredible experience for our family. Our daughter got to meet other kids from all over the U.S. She learned to work hard, together with the other kids, to create an amazing parade show."

DancEd owner and Artistic Director Tracy Reynolds added," Our kids get to do a lot of amazing things back home in Chicago, but actually being part of the Disney magic is truly special. I don't know who had the bigger smile, me or our kids' moms and dads."

Since 2009, this was the fourth time DancEd has performed at Disney World. One of the other trips included the dancers appearing on national television in an ABC special broadcast on Christmas Day.

DancEd dancers, who participated in the Disney World performance, auditioned for a place on the 2018-19 dance companies last spring. Company auditions will be held in April, 2019, for children interested in performance opportunities during the 2019-20 school year.

Depending upon the age of the dancers, DancEd typically performs at halftime at the Chicago Bulls and Northwestern Wildcat basketball games, as well as various venues such at Northbrook Court and local retirement homes. DancEd also organizes a performance at Stevenson High School for its annual Dancers Reaching Out event.

DancEd is currently accepting enrollment through January for dance classes in the 2018-19 school year. Contact DancEd at www.DancEd.com or call (847) 564-9120 to enroll or for additional information.
