Local Musicians Bring New Music Fest to Mount Prospect 8/24-26

"Why doesn't our village have a music festival?" When none present, many in bands themselves, could answer, the query was raised to Chris Bozonelos of Mrs. P & Me. He seized on the idea, encouraging the group to go for it.

Go for it, they did.

Embraced by the local Chamber of Commerce, the 56 Music Fix has quickly gained momentum with over 50 bands (from punk, latin, and metal to solo acoustic acts) vying for a spot in one of the participating local venues.

"We wanted a South By Southwest sort of vibe, where people would visit our bars and restaurants to see local bands play," says co-founder David Olson of Mount Prospect.

August 24-26th, the inaugural 56 Music Fix hopes to become an annual music fest showcasing local musical talents within the village's awesome bars and restaurants.

Organizers are hosting weekly hootenannies within participating venues allowing musicians to meet and play songs together. Mrs. P & Me hosts the group August 9th and Sam's Place on August 16th.

If you wish to speak with any of the organizers about the festival or visit an upcoming hootenanny, contact Kelley McCarron at (847) 219-3898 or via 56musicfix@gmail.com.
