Student Excellence Foundation awards grants to District 200 teachers

Thanks to generous donors, the Student Excellence Foundation recently awarded 12 grants to Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 educators, with a combined value of over $15,000.

For the first time, the teachers were surprised with balloons and a certificate in their classroom to announce that their grant was chosen to be funded. It was very exciting for them and their students and heartwarming for everyone!

The foundation received 21 grant requests last fall from District 200 educators proposing creative, exciting projects to offer their students. The grant review committee diligently reviewed the applications, compared them to grant criteria, and recommended grants for funding.

Grants were awarded at all education levels, from preschool through high school and beyond. Those receiving funding include grants for materials to help elementary students struggling with math, technology for use in science/STEM curriculum, materials to help improve social emotional learning for elementary students, reading materials for elementary school English language learners, flexible furniture for classrooms, a middle school science tower garden, and vocational training for students with special needs who are transitioning to life beyond high school.

The Student Excellence Foundation supports over 1,000 educators and 13,000 students in District 200, which includes Wheaton, Warrenville, and some areas of Winfield, Lisle, and Carol Stream. Find out more about the Foundation at StudentExcellenceFoundation.org.
